I moved from an 800 sq ft apartment. The price of my move went up $600 after my items were already loaded on the truck claiming it took up 425 sq ft. I didn’t move any bedroom furniture and everything filled up less than half of my dining room in my 800 sqft apartment. The 425 sq ft makes no sense to me. I was told once my items were loaded on the truck that picked them up they didn’t move off of that truck until they were delivered to my new location. Well a different truck showed up at my new location so obviously that was a lie and it was “loaded wrong” so the movers Initially started moving someone else’s stuff into my apartment. This was a total robbing of $600. The company should reimburse what was charged over the agreed estimate. It was a bullying tactic. They came over 2 hrs early waking me up and then blind siding me with an insane increase after my items were loaded.

Overall the move with this company was satisfactory. The movers themselves were very efficient and extremely professional and pleasant, both at pickup and at delivery. The management was professional enough and rose to the occassion when needed. The salesman who initiated the deal and followed it through was terrible and made the whole experience 10 times worse than it should have been. I spoke to him on the phone and sent very specific pictures of everything in order to get as accurate a quote as possible. When asking him to make sure to quote me accurately including all packing supplies, because I have a budget I cant go above, he just kept putting me down saying stop overworrying you're gonna be under the quote don't even think about it; always in a demeaning manner like he's speaking to a child. The reason he doesn't give an accurate quote is because the only thing he cares about is his commission and the lower my quote and the more that's included in that same number, the less his commission. So when the movers arrived, they needed packing supplies for the material I'd shown him that he just didn't bother to include in the quote so I was asked to pay extra, otherwise they'd just unload the truck. I paid the additional fees. Then before delivery, they told me an 18 wheeler wont fit in your building entrance, we'll have to charge extra to get a new truck. I told them the salesman had said he looked it up on maps and was sure this issue would not come up, so management said
The beginning of the move was handled perfectly- they were organized and the movers were proactive, timely and professional. Then it all tanked once my stuff was handed over to a crew that was outsourced to deliver my stuff out of state. Awful communication- I was supposed to get 72 hour notice - I got 20 and had to spend an anxious day begging my new place for an elevator to accommodate the rush. They insisted 7AM but didn’t show up to 12:30! They said they had a morning delivery that was delayed. If you told me 7AM, what was the delivery before me?? At that point the elevator I negotiated was no longer available. It was only 2 guys and They had to completed unload someone else’s apartment from the back of my truck to get to my stuff! They just dumped this poor persons stuff all over the city street to unload mine. Then they had to re load this persons stuff before they could start moving mine. At this point I had to over tip the security guard to let us use another elevator. Needless to say, with the rough handling I saw - there were items broken - black tape all over furniture and my bike whose residue I can’t get off. They had to put together furniture - part of the package I paid for- but they didn’t have the right tools so they had to leave and come back 3 hours later. I complained to my customer rep- didn’t feel like they really cared.. I just got an email saying this is how you claim insurance. It wasn’t the insurance claim I wanted, but I will use, it
